Living near a ferry terminal does not mean the ferry is always the best fit. Compare the whole journey: the walk to the stop, the service itself and the distance from the final stop to your destination.
Three services to look up
- Route 199 bus
- Translink identifies the route as West End–Teneriffe Ferry via City/Valley. Its Skyring Terrace stop page is a useful starting point for checking the next service and direction.
- CityCat F1
- Council describes the all-stops CityCat service as running between UQ St Lucia and Northshore Hamilton. Check the stops and direction for your particular journey through Translink.
- Cross River F21
- The Bulimba–Teneriffe ferry is a cross-river connection. It is a different service from the longer CityCat route.
For the working day
Enter your actual workplace address and an arrival time in the journey planner. A service that looks slower on the timetable can still be more useful if it leaves you closer to the door. Compare the journey home as well, particularly if you finish later than usual.
Save the official stop or route page once you have found the right one. Our ferry guide provides another starting point for terminal information.
For visitors and family trips
Choose the destination first, then check the connection. If meeting someone, specify whether you mean the ferry terminal or the nearby bus stop. Allow for the pace of the whole group when a route involves walking or changing services.
Ask Translink about any boarding or access requirements before the journey. Avoid assuming all vessels, terminals and connecting paths have identical arrangements.
Before leaving
- Set the correct travel date and time in the planner.
- Check the direction and the exact stop or terminal.
- Read service notices for that journey.
- Check current fares and payment options on Translink.
We have deliberately left live departure times out of this guide: the official departure page is the place to check them. For an evening out, pair this guide with our local evening planner.
